Second to the Thanksgiving holiday, the beginning of a new year, is one of my favorite times of the year. There is nothing more defining than the start of something new, because, let’s be honest, 2020, was A LOT, and that’s saying the VERY least.
I could fill the screen from which you read, with truth after truth, regarding what last year taught me. At the core, my heart was the greatest area of focus. Though, I lost my maternal grandmother, and an uncle, without question, it has been my heart that proved to need the most transforming. Whether you realize this or not, every season has purpose. Every season! Whether difficult or rewarding, is intentional, and can work for our good.
Perhaps, you expected more from last year. I know I certainly did. Possibly, you made specific plans and goals that were not accomplished. Again, same for me. Sis, you must know that you’re in competition with no one! If you didn’t start that business last year, or failed to check off all your boxes, that is ALRIGHT! I’m convinced that it is better to do a thing from a place of peace, and wisdom, and not from our emotions and comparison. Don’t feel any type of way because you decided, or needed to wait. You can begin again.
I must say that I’m incredibly exhausted by the various memes I see, “prophesying” by keyboard, being thrown around social media. Declaring how well-off this new year will leave us, as if walking in abundance is free of charge, and lacks work. What good is a fat account, if one is bankrupt everywhere else. Hear me, I believe in abundance across the board. I also believe in work, and if you didn’t get to work, because you needed to focus on healing, and your emotional stability instead, again, that is alright.
We have to stop feeling pressured to show up for anyone or anything, unless we’re ready. Last year gave us so much to navigate. So, let me reassure you that whatever it may be in your heart to do, know that it will not be null, or lack impact, because you didn’t begin when you expected. It’s ok if your IG bio can’t be updated just yet. Take the time you need, so that when do show up, you show up right, and well.
Certainly, last year didn’t go the way many of us would’ve hoped for, but it is behind us now. Perhaps, this is the year that you actually start your business. Maybe, this is the year that you continue to focus on your internal well-being. Whether you commit to one, or both, you get to decide. I applaud both efforts. Cheers to beginning again, sis. Happy New Year!
