Waiting is something we all encounter, and waiting can be challenging.  So, let’s talk about it. Now, if all is just right with you, and you have this waiting thing down then great, but for my sisters who have been struggling through their waiting season, I pray this encourages you. For those of you who have let frustration and anger settle, and now you question if what you’re waiting on will ever happen, this is for you. I know what it is to wait, and I mean for YEARS! One of the greatest adversaries of waiting is time. Time doesn’t cease. It keeps moving forward no matter who you are, or what you’re waiting on! Sis, perhaps time isn’t our problem, but HOW you are waiting is? 

In short, the waiting season is from the moment of revelation to manifestation. Our season of waiting begins when we understand we have been promised something by God. Revelation is God revealing to US that what He has planned is on the way! So why NOT wait with expectation? Why not wait with hope that the God of our expectation will do what He has promised, because He cannot lie. He will not fail us. The bible tells us in Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11, that God knows the plans He has for us. God has meticulously orchestrated our lives. God knows those of us who will be married. He knows those of us who will become mothers. It’s when He reveals His plans to us that our “wait” truly begins. 

I didn’t know at four years old that I would be a wife. As I got older, I desired to become one, but it had to be revealed to me that I would be. You’re not waiting for something you already have, but once God revealed to me that I would be married one day, my waiting season began because I now had a tangible promise. I’ve always desired to be a mom, but desiring something and being promised something by God are two different things. I may desire to be a millionaire, but if that’s not what God has PLANNED for me, then I need to have a seat and put that on the shelf, hahaha. We may not always get what we desire, but His promises are already ours.

Listen, I have struggled when it comes to waiting on God. The longer I waited, the more I questioned whether or not this or that, would happen. Often, we think that because time is passing that so has God! You think because months, and years have passed that what God has promised will not happen!! God is not a man that He should lie (see Numbers 23:19). Don’t allow time to make you question what God said. What is TIME to the One who dwells in eternity?! You heard Him correctly. He said what He said. Waiting becomes challenging because we don’t know how to wait. We think we are suppose to just wait and that’s it. Waiting doesn’t mean you do nothing. We should be actively waiting, not idly waiting . Often, we stress ourselves out waiting on God, but yet we aren’t doing our part.

I’d like to share some practical things that help me:

1. Pray and Fast – listen for direction and the voice of God.

2. Wait with expectation – knowing what God has promised can happen at ANY time!

3. PREPARE – if you know you’re going to be a wife, then prepare. A mother? Prepare. An entrepreneur? PREPARE! 

4. Never forget what He said – rehearse what God told you. Daily if you need to. Don’t fall victim to the lies of the enemy! God doesn’t lie. The enemy does! 

5. CLING to Jesus – no matter how hard. Even when you feel ease and contentment, cling to Jesus. When it’s hard and when it’s not. 

6. Stay busy – try a new hobby. Join a gym. Read more books. Travel. Do what you can to keep your mind and heart from creating an idol out of what you’re waiting for. Sometimes we can become so fixated on what we want, that we begin to worship it instead of God. 

7. Do NOT compare! – this is your journey, and your path is specific to you, and you only. Stay the course, sis. 

I wish I could tell you that what you’re waiting for is right around the corner, and perhaps it is, but for others, the wait will continue. You haven’t done anything wrong. Our Father doesn’t think any less of you. Jesus isn’t in the business of giving to one, and withholding from another. In Luke, the Bible says it “…gives your Father great happiness to give us the kingdom”. Don’t question His goodness. Don’t allow disappointment to take root in your heart because you believed the lies of the enemy. God hasn’t forgotten about you! HOW? You’re His kid. I understand, if you’re waiting on God to manifest what He has revealed to you, it’s probably something you can’t make happen for yourself. I think that’s the beautiful part about the waiting season. If you’re waiting on God, for ANYTHING, then you are absolutely, waiting on the right one!
